Another thought from today. Basically, I'd like to be here on this day and in this light.

I'm getting tired of winter...
Good thing about being a painter, we can change the season that we are in the middle of each day. Pretty special huh?

I just came across this quote from artist/illustrator Harvey Dunn:

"Imagination comes from the word image. And an image is the symbol of reality. Therefore can we not accept imagination as a perception of truth?"

Works for me, so does that beautiful painting!

Donna... Coming from parents who both grew up in South Dakota, Harvey Dunn is one of my all time favorites! I had a grandfather and uncles plowing homesteaded prairie about the time that he was depicting that very life and it has always touched a nerve with me. I didn't know about him until I was in high school working in a frame shop in California for a couple of ex pat South Dakotans. One was a farmer retired turned framer, his wife a painter. They talked constantly about Harvey Dunn.

Thanks for the quote. You remind me that one of the first things that I need to do this spring is take a trip to Brookings, SD to visit the South Dakota Museum of Art where they have an extensive Harvey Dunn collection.

Donna... That is such a good quote that I'm going to use it on the front page of this blog. I hope that you don't mind me stealing it from you. Thanks again.

Hey, I 'stole' it from Harvey and I'm sure he would be honored to have you use it since you are both from the same area :-)

buttery is right!
January has a unique warmth to it, this year, especially!

OOPS! I clicked on the wrong tab - the buttery one belongs on the OTHER painting. Sorry.
(my monitor screen is jumpy today....oh well)
But, summer memories = THIS painting. Yes. well, it's buttery too, actually. I'm kind of basking in this one, now that February is here - as soon as January goes, I'm ready for summer.............how do you get that humid feeling so perfectly in your summer paintings. I need a lemonade and a cool river just looking at this painting!
: )
